Rachel Stevens is a British singer and actress, who became famous as one of the members in the pop sensation S Club 7. She began her successful solo career in 2003 and has released two albums, Funky Dory and Come And Get It. In 2008 she charmed the viewers of Strictly Come Dancing with her amazing dance skills. Rachel and her husband Alex's first child, baby girl Amelie, was born on November 16 2010. In 2011 she recorded an album for children called Tasty Tunes. Rachel is currently said to be working with her third solo album. Rachel is the new face of the Next 'Petites' range. Her promotional images will hit the shops, catalogues and Internet in January 2013.

Rachel is supporting both organisations and is the official ambassador of WaterAid. You can buy limited edition packs of Belu at Sainsbury’s until September. 100% of Belu profits are donated to WaterAid to support clean water projects around the world.

Main judge speculation begins

Because of the massive time difference between New Zealand and Europe, Rachel’s episode has already been shown. The X Factor viewers were so impressed by Rachel’s guest judge appearance that speculation of her taking over a main judge role has begun. I’d love to see that happen. Here are some entries from a DigitalSpy message board.

Last night Rachel Stevens appeared on X Factor New Zealand and twitter went in ablaze after her role as a mentor at judges houses was over. Many claiming they want her to replace one of the female judges on the show. Do you think this was a look to see how well she could work on the show, as a UK Replacement in the future. Remember mentoring is not about vocal skills but experience and how you help an artist progress. Rachel showed that last night, with her critiques and observations! Should she do the show?

She’s very likeable and could be a promising mentor

I liked her as a guest judge. However there’s alot more pressure involved when you’re a main judge. It seems she did make a good impression on alot of people though.

Here goes the full X Factor press release. Rachel joins Melanie Blatt to mentor the groups category. Rachel’s experience of having been in one of the biggest pop bands in the world will surely bring lots of expertise for Mel to help chooce who should go through.

RACHEL STEVENS JOINS X FACTOR, NEW ZEALAND

Former S Club 7 singer and Strictly Come Dancing star, Rachel Stevens, is revealed as a guest judge on tonight and tomorrow’s X Factor, New Zealand (TV3), starring alongside All Saints’ judge Melanie Blatt.

Rachel arrived in New Zealand just a few weeks ago to surprise contestants in the ‘groups’ category when their mentor (Mel) was revealed to them along with Rachel to help her decide who to put through to live shows.

Arriving in style, Rachel was flown by helicopter to the stunning judge’s retreat in Mahurangi, 40 miles north of Auckland, where the contestants eagerly awaited the news of who their mentor and guest judge were. After their excitement of being partnered with Mel, Rachel was revealed and the groups spontaneously burst into a medley of S Club songs.

S Club 7 sold over 14 million records, received two Brit Awards and their TV show was televised in 114 countries worldwide.

Rachel said; “This was my first visit back to New Zealand since we toured here as a band and it was lovely to see there’s still a lot of S Club love out there! I’m a huge X Factor fan and like lots of other people, Saturday nights are often spent ‘critiquing’ contestants from the sofa so it was great to be able to do it for real. Mel will be a fantastic mentor and has some great contestants in her team. I’ll be supporting her and the groups all the way and hope she has the winner!”

Rachel flew into New Zealand for a whirlwind 4 day trip before flying back to London and then to Paris to shoot the new A/W campaign for Next, who she continues to work with as the face of their Petite’s range.

Rachel said; “It was an exciting week and great fun to be part of the show. I got quite nostalgic seeing the young bands enjoying themselves, creating new styles and sounds. It was lovely to be part of. I had a great time in S Club and know how much they’ve got to look forward to. Being back in New Zealand, albeit briefly was a pleasure and I’m excited for Mel and for the show.”

John McDonald, Co-Exec Producer of X Factor NZ said; “Rachel was the perfect addition to help Mel with her decision and she did a great job. Her feedback was incredibly valuable to the contestants and to Mel having been very successful in a band herself. Plus she was a natural in front of the camera.”

Rachel has made a guest judge appearance in X Factor New Zealand mentoring Melanie Blatt with the group selections. The judging stint took place a few weeks ago during her super secret trip. Rachel’s episodes will be on TV today at 7pm and tomorrow at 7:30pm on TV3.

Blue wants S Club in the Big Reunion

British boyband Blue would like to see S Club take part in the second series of The Big Reunion.

Blue are backing S Club 7 to appear on the next series of ‘The Big Reunion’.

The ‘All Rise’ boy band – Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe – think the pop seven-piece, who had a string of hits in the early 2000s including ‘Bring It All Back’, would be the perfect group to feature on the second series of ITV2′s hit reality show.

Appearing on ‘Blue’s 00s Pop Roulette’ on VH1 – which counts down the band’s favourite tunes from the early part of the millennium – Duncan hinted: “They may actually be on next year’s ‘Big Reunion’.”

Lee said: “They were a great band. I think they should be.”

The ‘One Love’ hitmakers think the band – who were made up of Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearritt and Rachel Stevens – would be a big draw for next year’s series based on the success they had in their heyday.

Antony said: “This song [S Club 7's 'Don't Stop Movin'] beat us to Record of the Year in 2001. We were winning, winning, winning, then they started beating us. They pipped us to the post.”

Lee added: “Think how big their tours were, they were crazy!”

Daily Mail has modified their recent article of Rachel by removing the false quotation of how Rachel hated being in S Club 7. In reality Rachel loved being in the band and called the early stages “confusing”. Sadly many other news websites took the false phrase and passed it on.
